An Introduction to Spoon Carving. Sunday 16th October 10.00am to 4.00pm
Learn how to safely use a minimum of hand tools to carve your own practical and beautiful kitchen utensils from unseasoned wood. Under the guidance of experienced carver and woodland educator Richard Irvine, you will practice the techniques needed to carve greenwood and should leave at the end of the day with a spoon to use and treasure for years to come. We will also cover the elements of good spoon design, choice of wood and tools as well as basic sharpening.
This event will take place outdoors in the convivial atmosphere of Yarde Orchard on the Tarka Trail near Peters Marland. Thanks to the North Devon Biosphere Reserve, the cost has been kept to £5 per participant which includes a light lunch. Places are limited so booking is essential. Please contact Richard at learning@richardirvine.co.uk for more details and bookings.
